From The Sun
FA chief Brian Barwick has amazingly insisted that Sven Goran Eriksson was NOT a waste of money as England boss.
Loser Eriksson pocketed a staggering £25million during his six years in charge.
He is still costing us £13,000 a day — despite leaving the hotseat nearly two months ago.
And, under the terms of his departure, he is set to receive another £3.2m this season unless he finds a new job.
But the slippery Swede is hardly busting a gut to save the £90,000 a week the FA will pay him until December.
Yet Soho Square chief executive Barwick insisted: “I would not accept the notion that he was an expensive mistake.”
England managed two last-eight finishes at the last two World Cups and a quarter-final spot at Euro 2004.
But, given the amazing wealth of talent at his disposal, almost every pundit argues he should have done much better.
Barwick added: “I would understand why the public would be disappointed with how it finished in Germany. |
