Seriously, you couldn't make this up! West Ham in light of our recent problems are now feeling the way to go in by banning enthusiastic supporters who stand up to cheer on the team! This is a real copy of a letter sent out to a West Ham season ticket holder the other day, he was telling us about it on the ironsironsirons myspace group!
Dear sir
You will be aware that the club is under pressure from the licensing authorities to ensure the spectators remain seated and to this end we have been seeking the cooperation of our supporters.
You have ignored repeated requests to remain seated and are therefore placing the club in jeopardy of losing capacity. As a result you are banned from attending Upton Park for two matches. Your ticket will be blocked until 6th November 2006 and you will be denied access at the turnstiles and should not attempt to gain entry.
The Police have been informed of your banning order.
On your return your behaviour will be monitored by stewards and CCTV and any repetition will result in a lengthy ban
Yours faithfully
West ham united football club |

From an annonymous source
West Ham have been criticised by supporters after a number of fans were banned from Upton Park for persistent standing.
Several season ticket holders received letters in the post this morning informing them that they have been banned from The Boleyn Ground for the next two home fixtures as a result of refusing to sit in their seats.
One supporter, speaking this morning said:
"Only West Ham could lose eight games in a row then publicly plead for their supporters to get behind the team, make some noise and help them to turn things around before promptly banning the fans who have been trying to do just that all season!"
Thew news comes less than 24 hours after The Hammers were humiliated in the Carling Cup courtesy of a 2-1 defeat at the hands of League One Chesterfield.
Following the game Alan Pardew urged the Hammers faithful to get behind his team this coming Sunday when they face Blackburn Rovers:
"Our fans will be angry and disappointed with this result," he said, "but they will be right behind us at the start on Sunday and we need to respond to that.
"We need our stadium to give us a lift, because if we don't respond to that they will turn on us and then it's a very, very difficult position we're going to find ourselves in." |
