Gutted :(
Would agree Curbishley as favourite, and Dowie was mentioned before,
think both would keep us up, but that's all.
Wrong time to bring in a foreigner as no time to adapt to the English way (unless it's morinho).

I want sir Trev, but very unlikely.
George Graham's interesting (I wanted him to take over after Redknapp went) brings the kids through and his teams don't concede goals, but surely out of football too long.

Anyone but Hoddle, Eriksson and that twat Scolari.

West Ham make Curbishley approach

Curbishley was allegedly offered the West Ham job in 2001
Alan Curbishley says West Ham have approached him about replacing sacked Alan Pardew as manager at Upton Park.
The former Charlton boss, who played for the Hammers from 1975-79, admits he would find the job hard to turn down.

"West Ham want to talk to me and I would love to know what they want to say, of course I'm interested," Curbishley told the Daily Express.

"I suspect we'll get together over the next day or so when the dust settles. This chance would be a massive honour."

Wigan manager Paul Jewell is also thought to be in the running, although former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is considered unlikely to be offered the post.

Once you are brought up in a background like West Ham, the affection you have for the club never goes away

Alan Curbishley

Curbishley is thought to have turned down the opportunity to manage the Hammers in 2001 when he was still at Charlton.

He has been out of football after leaving his post at The Valley in May and has since been linked with Aston Villa, West Brom, Leeds and Norwich.

The 49-year-old says he is thrilled West Ham fans want him to take the job but says they should not take his appointment for granted.

"I'm flattered by the response from fans who believe I should be the next boss but two and two do not always make four," added Curbishley.

"West Ham are my club. I come from Canning Town, grew up as a trainee, became a first-team regular and sat at the feet of the incomparable Bobby Moore.

"The England captain would often give me a lift into training and I've never forgotten the lessons he taught me on and off the pitch, especially how to conduct myself in public.

"Once you are brought up in a background like West Ham, the affection you have for the club never goes away.

"I can easily tap into the fans' passion for the club, what they want and what they stand for."

Curbishley is expected to hold talks with chairman Eggert Magnusson and major backer Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson this week.

Kia Joorabchian, the Iranian businessman who owns the rights to West Ham's Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, says Curbishley would be a superb appointment.

"I believe Alan is the best man for the job and can get them out of trouble," said Joorabchian.

"I think Carlos and Javier would be pleased if 'Curbs' came in."

I've heard that apparently Sven has ruled himself out but I've still got a horrible feeling about this. Sven is completely untrustworthy and it wouldn't suprise me if he's done this to throw the media off the scent and to get Eggy to up a deal for him. There are allegations that apparently he's friends with Eggy too. This whole think stinks in my opinion and it wouldn't suprise me if the new manager wasn't sorted out before Pardew got the boot. I expect we'll hear no more from the club about it till after the Man Utd game and then the new manager unveiled on Monday. Lets just hope it is Curbs or someone decent and not that Sven twat! :?

I must admit I wanted Curbishley in when Harry left but from what I can gather the board were not prepared to pay the money - hence rodent and all the shit that happened after that.

Would Harry come back with a new man at the top? We've all seen what he can do with the support of a decent chairman look at Portsmouth, where are they in the prem - 3rd? I would welcome him with open arms.

No one has mentioned Slaven Bilić. Ex- West Ham now managing the Croatian national side and doing well. Got to be a good shout.

I reckon it will be Alan Curbishley, or are you doing this poll on who is going to be manager after him ? Mind you that might be a bit pointless having Curbishley as an option to replace himself. So I will go with Curbishley to be the next West Ham boss.

Do I think it was the right appointment, yes I do, it will be intresting to see how West Ham start and finish the season. His Charlton sides used to get off to a flyer then seem to burn out. I hope West Ham keep Tevez, he's different gravy and he makes Shrek at Manchester Bucaneers look like a sunday pub league player. Tevez is awesome.
